St. George plays host to the IRONMAN 70.3 North American Pro Championship, which attracts the sports most accomplished athletes in an endurance race that features a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run. The course takes athletes through the amazing scenery of the St. George area including the swim at Sand Hollow State Park and a ride through Snow Canyon State Park. The race will feature the top pros from around the world including several current and former World Champions and Olympians. In addition, more than 2500 amateur athletes will test their skills on what has become a signature course on the circuit. It is arguably the toughest IRONMAN 30.3 on the calendar.

The swim will be held at the scenic Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane Utah. The one loop swim course will take place in the beautiful blue water of Sand Hollow Reservoir. The water temperature is expected to be between 60 and 64 degrees Fahrenheit. The bike course will take athletes around Sand Hollow Reservoir through the towns of Hurricane and Washington, before making its way toward the city of St George. After crossing the Red Hill Bluff athletes will proceed on Snow Canyon parkway and up through the picturesque Snow Canyon State Park, before returning to town on SR 18 and finishing at T2 located in downtown St. George. After entering transition in St. George?s historic Town Square, athletes will begin the one-loop course that heads out on Diagonal and Bluff Street before climbing up Red Hills Parkway through the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. The course offers an amazing view of the city while running along the bluff before returning to the finish line located on Main Street right in the heart of down town St. George.Bike
