Instructor: Dr. Jim Reilly is a former NASA Astronaut who flew 3 missions on the Space Shuttle. On two of those missions he conducted five space walks to assemble the International Space Station. He will talk about the fun and challenges of assembling a housing facility and laboratory in space while the residents are already living there. Prior to working at NASA for 13 years, Jim was an exploration geologist working on the frontiers of the industry. As part of his work, he spent 22 days underwater in submarines exploring the seafloor at water depths to 3100’. Before becoming a geologist, Jim had a “real job” as a roofer in Dallas, Texas.
